New comics incoming and conventions aplenty
Hello and welcome back to Burnt Barn Business.
I’ve been a tad quiet on the update front but that’s only because I have been waiting patiently (not really very patiently) for the numerous exciting announcements I have regarding new comic projects to start. And well…they have begun.
My first big news of the year is that I have written a story for the badass-looking new science fiction anthology from Oni Press - XINO. I’m working with my wonderful Weird Work partner, Shaky Kane, and I’m pretty darn thrilled to have been asked to be involved by new Oni head honcho, Hunter Gorinson (Thanks, Hunter!).
This book is going to be an absolute banger and being alongside such incredible creators as Phil Hester, Chris Condon, André Lima Araújo and Malachi Ward is a real “pinch me I’m dreaming” moment.
That right there is Shaky’s marvellous cover, which is one of four beauties that have been created for the book. This bad boy should be hitting all good comic stores in the summer and is the first of four, so be sure to get it on your pull lists.
I’ve also been working away on several other comics projects that should be getting revealed over the next six-weeks, so it’s been a real busy time. It’s also very exciting (scary) that with the work I now have scheduled I can call myself a full time professional comic book writer, which is an ambition I didn’t know if I would ever achieve, but as the good doctor says, “Put the lime in the coconut and mix them both together.” Which I think sums up this unpredictable world we live in.
CONVENTION APPEARANCES
What is more predictable is that I will at both the upcoming Valencia and Barcelona comic conventions. Not tabling or signing or anything as that’s for squares, but I will be wandering around, likely hungover after a classic Spanish night out with the finest comic-ers this country has to offer that ends at 7am (how do they do it?), so if you’re heading along keep an eye out for the bleary-eyed guiri.
I do believe that is all for now. I should have some more exciting news to share soon.
Till then, stay safe out there.
