Super exciting limited edition new crime comic!
Hello and welcome back to Burnt Barn Business.
The business this week is a new campaign that I’ve launched for a tasty limited edition ashcan of MUGSHOTS: SINS OF THE FATHER. The book will have a very limited print run timed to tie in with this year’s Thought Bubble convention in November and contains the prologue for the sequel to mine and Chris Matthews’ crime noir one-shot MUGSHOTS (also available on the campaign), which we released back in 2020.
The book will be printed on uncoated paper for a ‘zine’ feel and maybe end up being a bit of a collector’s item.
We’re funding the book on Crowdfundr this time, which is a first for me, and without my usual Kickstarter fanbase it is…well…a lot harder work hitting the target.
So, if you’d like to help me feel like less of a loser and get a beautiful comic for your trouble then head over to this link - crowdfundr.com/mugshotsashcan.
Here’s some more stunning Chris Matthews artwork from the book, which is also one of my favourite things I’ve ever written.
OTHER NEWS.
In other news, one of the most important emails of my life got sent this afternoon so I will now wait with a huge knot in my stomach until we get an answer.
I’ve also sent out all my self-funded comics to a whole bunch of Spanish publishers here in Spain in hope of getting some (or all, pretty please) translated into Spanish and sold in the shops over here. That would be delightful.
READING. WATCHING.
I just got done watching the final episode of Andor. That final episode was a lot of fun, but I’m afraid I did fall on the side of finding the overall season a bit slow going. I like thoughtful Star Wars…but come on!
I’ve also been watching all the other stuff everyone is watching. She-Hulk is a good time, I like it more than most Marvel shows even if the CGI on She-Hulk herself has a bit to be desired.
Rings of Power is pretty but also quite slow up until the past couple of episodes.
I’m jumping between reading Crime and Punishment and Peter David’s Hulk run (often leaning towards much more Hulk than Dostoevsky), which is a fun double act. I mean they both deal with characters struggling with their interior selves which leads to violence! I also love all the different artists you see popping up drawing the book (Hulk not C&P). I especially liked the Sam Keith drawn issue I recently read. Great artist!
Right, I think that’s all for now.
I’ll be back soon with more Burnt Barn Business.
Till then, stay safe out there.
